Is It Time for “Dieselution”?Story by Jeff Feldsher - October 8,2007 With an ever increasing number of diesel powered vehicles on sale both in North America and Europe, Volkswagen believes the public needs a refresher course on the alternative fuel. Given that global oil prices are at near record highs and fossil fuel has an uncertain future, clean diesel powered cars as well as other alternative fuels may very well see a large spike in sales over the coming years. As such Volkswagen is launching its “Dieselution Tour” aimed at educating both the general public and media to the benefits of the environmentally friendly fuel. The tour is scheduled to make appearances at several events over the coming months including prominent auto show stops, and the 2008 Super bowl.
According to CEO Stefan Jacoby, “Volkswagen of America considers the Dieselution Tour an important informational resource for everyone concerned about the environment and improved fuel economy standards. We want to show Americans that today's clean diesel technology is a quantum leap from the power plants introduced nearly 30 years ago. This tour aims to change any outdated perception about diesel technology."
